Words with purpose
At my core, I'm a journalist. I strongly believe in the concept of "less is more." No long-winded sentences that make the writer feel important but the reader lost. No multisyllabic words that sound intelligent but lack any real impact. In short, no fluff. This does not mean writing can't be colorful, inventive, surprising and soul-stirring. Compelling stories require few words, as long as those words are thoughtfully chosen and arranged.
I also believe no subject matter is boring. (I've had a blast writing about rivets and welding before, no joke.) Good writing makes the mundane fascinating and the complex digestible.
I aim to accomplish these things every time I put pen to paper.
